We understand the ambition to build across borders—and the practical decisions that turn it into a business.
INVESTMENT & INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
Ha Nguyen
Ha Nguyen brings a venture investor’s perspective to market selection, business models and growth. A Partner at McRock Capital, she previously worked with IDG Ventures Vietnam and MAJ Invest. Her experience connects Vietnamese entrepreneurship with North American industrial technology.
McRock announced a Fund III close above C$120 million in January 2026. Her work includes board-observer experience with industrial software and AI companies. She received the CVCA’s 2025 VC Rising Woman Star Award.
Hong Phuc (HP) Nguyen is the founder of Kibbi. Building from the challenges she encountered as a newcomer during COVID-19, she assembled a team, found early backers and developed a platform that grew through Canadian partnerships.
Kibbi’s app launched in June 2022. By April 2026, its technology powered a national insurance careers platform with the Insurance Institute of Canada—less than four years from app launch to that national industry deployment.
We bring complementary perspectives to the same challenge: helping ambitious businesses make informed decisions and take meaningful commercial steps.
Professional affiliations describe individual experience. First North Partners’s services are independent and do not imply endorsement by those organizations.
Fund figures describe firms where Ha has worked, not capital personally managed or raised by her. Kibbi figures describe HP’s company.
FROM FIRST BACKERS TO NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
Built through the hard parts.
Starting during COVID-19
HP’s pandemic-era startup journey required building trust from the ground up. BetaKit describes how she raised her first C$150,000 by pitching her personal network, including friends and her dentist.
Making the business investable
In 2023, BetaKit reported an oversubscribed C$895,000 pre-seed round. Grants and other support brought the financing package to C$1.1 million. The story reflects resourcefulness in fundraising, team building and partnership development.
MAJ Invest is included as professional experience; no fund-size figure is attributed to Ha’s role there. Media links feature the founders or their companies, rather than an endorsement of First North Partners.
